Travelling to different places is so good to expand the mind, break those ceilings, break the bad habits, break the rut, the stagnant energy and get you to think much bolder.
I recently came from New York, the city that never sleeps – and I cant tell you how incredible it was, to soak up the vibe. New York is amongst my list of favourite cities in the world, and no matter how long you spend there – it wraps you up in its glory. You can never be bored there, there is so much to do.
There is the obvious sightseeing from Lady Liberty to Central Park, the Plaza, Rockerfeller Center. Then there are the amazing bagels, the incredible musicals, and a quality of restaurants you cant get anywhere else. In addition to all that, you get to tour all the famous places where great movies and tv series were filmed. Unlike LA, in NYC the scenes are shot in actual places rather than sets.
New York: A City of Limitless Possibilities
New York City, often referred to as the “the city that never sleeps” is a place where dreams come to life. It’s a city that never ceases to amaze, and no matter how long you spend there, it wraps you up in its glory. There is an energy in New York that’s unlike anywhere else in the world, an energy that ignites your passion for exploration and adventure.
- The Art of Sightseeing
One of the first things that strike you about New York is the sheer magnitude of things to see and do. From the iconic Statue of Liberty standing tall in the harbor to the vast green oasis of Central Park, there’s no shortage of sights that will take your breath away. As you stand beneath the towering skyscrapers, such as the Empire State Building and One World Trade Center, you can’t help but feel humbled by the architectural marvels of humanity.
Exploring the city’s rich history, you can visit the majestic Rockefeller Center, known for its stunning Christmas tree lighting ceremony, or take a stroll through the beautiful and historic Brooklyn Bridge. New York City is a place that encourages you to become a part of its story, to connect with its history, and to dream big.
- Culinary Delights
The culinary scene in New York is a testament to the city’s diversity and spirit. You can find some of the best food from around the world right at your fingertips. From the classic New York bagels to gourmet hot dogs from street vendors, there’s something to satisfy every palate. The city boasts a culinary landscape that caters to all tastes and budgets, making every meal an opportunity for culinary exploration.
- Broadway Dreams
If you’re a fan of the arts, you’re in for a treat in the city that birthed Broadway. Attending a musical or play on the Great White Way is an experience like no other. The talent and creativity that flow through the city’s theaters are awe-inspiring, and it’s no wonder that so many aspiring artists flock to New York to make their dreams come true.
- Real-Life Movie Sets
Unlike many other cities, New York offers a unique connection to the world of film and television. Many of the scenes from iconic movies and TV series are shot in real locations, not on elaborate sets. Walking through the city streets, you may find yourself standing at the very spot where your favorite movie scenes were filmed. It’s a surreal experience to see the familiar places you’ve seen on the silver screen come to life before your eyes.
A Glimpse of the UN Summit
My trip to New York was made even more special by the presence of the United Nations Summit. I had the rare privilege of witnessing several heads of state arriving at the UN headquarters, including the momentous sight of President Biden passing by. It was an honor to be a part of such a significant international event and to observe world leaders working together to address global challenges.
Iconic TV Show Locations
As a devoted fan of television, visiting the locations where some of my favorite TV shows were filmed was a highlight of my journey. New York is the backdrop for many beloved series, and unlike Los Angeles, where shows are often filmed on sets, in NYC, the scenes are shot on the actual streets, giving you a chance to walk in the footsteps of your favorite characters.
- “Sex and the City”
One of the iconic TV series that found its home in New York is “Sex and the City.” As a fan of the show, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to visit some of the famous filming locations. It was incredible to stand outside Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment building and imagine the fashionable escapades that unfolded within.
- “Friends”
For many, “Friends” holds a special place in their hearts. As a die-hard “Friends” fan, visiting the set was a dream come true. While they say the tour takes about an hour, I found myself immersed in the experience for three hours, relishing every piece of memorabilia and reminiscing about the cherished moments the show provided.
- The Plaza Hotel
The Plaza Hotel, a legendary New York landmark, played a prominent role in the classic film “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.” It was an incredible feeling to visit the same location that Kevin McCallister explored in the movie, allowing me to relive the magic of the film.
Expanding Horizons and Breaking Ceilings
The experience of being in New York City is transformative in more ways than one. The city’s grandeur and larger-than-life atmosphere have a way of making you think bigger and outside the box. As I walked through the bustling streets, I couldn’t help but feel inspired to break through the ceilings that often limit our thinking.
- Expanding the Mind
New York’s diversity and vibrancy offer a unique perspective on the world. Meeting people from all walks of life and hearing their stories broadens your understanding of different cultures and viewpoints. It challenges preconceptions and fosters empathy, encouraging a more open and accepting mindset.
- Breaking Bad Habits
Traveling to a new place allows you to break free from the monotony of your daily routine. It’s an opportunity to distance yourself from bad habits and patterns that may be holding you back. The excitement of exploring a different environment can inspire positive change and personal growth.
- Escaping the Rut
We all fall into ruts from time to time, both personally and professionally. New York, with its endless possibilities and constant movement, offers the ideal escape from the rut. It’s a city that thrives on innovation and creativity, and just being there can reignite your passion for life and work.
- Shifting Stagnant Energy
The stagnant energy that can accumulate in our lives often stems from complacency and routine. Traveling to a new country, especially one as dynamic as New York, can shift that stagnant energy. The city’s fast-paced nature encourages you to embrace change and see the world with fresh eyes.
- Thinking Bolder
New York City’s motto, “If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere,” is a testament to the bold thinking that the city inspires. As I walked the streets and took in the iconic skyline, I couldn’t help but envision larger goals and dream more audaciously. New York encourages you to think outside the confines of your comfort zone and to strive for greatness.
